Lymphatic Drainage Massage · Burleigh Heads

For bodies that feel heavy, full, or stuck.

Lymphatic drainage massage on the Gold Coast — a slower, softer kind of bodywork that helps move what your body's holding. We offer both the standard gentle technique and the firmer Brazilian-style sculpting work, all from our quiet clinic on Connor Street.

Lymphatic drainage massage at White Stone Wellness, Burleigh Heads

Some days, the body feels stuck. Heavy legs. A puffy face. A waistline that doesn't quite belong to you. Bloat that no amount of water seems to shift.

Lymphatic drainage massage works with the system that quietly handles all of this — moving fluid, reducing swelling, supporting the body's own clean-up. It's not a deep tissue session and it's not a relaxation rub. It's something quieter, more rhythmic, and often surprisingly effective.

At White Stone Wellness in Burleigh Heads, we offer two distinct approaches — the original gentle technique, and the firmer Brazilian style — so the work can be matched to what your body actually needs.

Two techniques, two outcomes

One service. Two ways of doing it.

They look similar from the outside but they feel completely different on the body — and they're suited to different things.

Gentle · MLD

Standard Lymphatic Drainage

The original, gentle technique.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is the technique developed in the 1930s for medical lymph work. Light, slow, rhythmic — almost meditative. The pressure is barely there; the movement is precise.

It's the technique most people picture when they hear "lymphatic massage." Especially good if you bruise easily, are post-surgical, are pregnant, or simply don't enjoy firmer work. Many clients fall asleep within ten minutes.

What it helps with Swelling, fluid retention, post-flight puffiness, immune support, pregnancy heaviness, sensitive bodies.
Firmer · Brazilian

Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage

The deeper sculpting style.

Brazilian lymphatic drainage uses firmer pressure and longer, sweeping strokes. It's the technique you'll have seen on social media — known for its sculpting effect on the abdomen, thighs and waist.

While its appeal is often aesthetic, the underlying mechanism is the same: it moves fluid and stimulates lymph flow, just with more intent. Best for clients who want a more active feeling, who don't bruise easily, and who like the visible "deflated" effect afterwards.

What it helps with Stubborn bloat, body sculpting, pre-event puffiness, hormonal heaviness, those who find MLD too gentle.
Who books in

The clients we see most.

Lymphatic drainage isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of session. Here are the most common reasons people walk through our door.

Bloat & fluid retention

The hormonal heaviness, the post-salty-meal puffiness, the days nothing fits the way it usually does.

Pregnancy & postnatal

For the swollen ankles, the heavy legs, and the body recovery that follows birth. Bookings from 12 weeks.

Post-surgical recovery

After cosmetic, breast, or abdominal surgery. Your treating practitioner's clearance is required, and we'll work alongside their advice.

Long-haul travel & jet lag

Resetting after the flight: the puffy ankles, the foggy head, the holding pattern your body's stuck in.

Pre-event prep

Wedding next month. Photoshoot in two weeks. A holiday on the horizon. Brazilian lymphatic in the lead-up shows visibly.

Chronic heaviness

For the bodies that just feel slow — fluid not moving, energy low, low-grade swelling that's been there for ages.

What to expect

What a session actually looks like.

Most people booking lymphatic drainage for the first time aren't quite sure what to expect. Here's the rough shape of an hour with us — though no two sessions are identical, and your therapist will adapt to where your body is on the day.

Wear something loose for afterwards. Drink plenty of water before and after. Allow yourself a quieter evening if you can.

  • 01

    Settling in & quick chat

You'll arrive 5–10 minutes early on your first visit. We'll talk through what's going on for your body, what you're hoping to ease, and check in on anything we should know.

  • 02

    Choosing the right technique

Your therapist will recommend either MLD or Brazilian based on what you've shared, and explain what to expect. The work is always your call — pressure, focus areas, anything off-limits.

  • 03

    The work itself

Slow, rhythmic, repetitive — that's the rhythm of lymphatic work. You may feel light pressure, gentle movement, or more sweeping strokes if it's Brazilian. Many clients drift in and out of sleep.

  • 04

    Closing & walking out

You'll have a few quiet minutes before getting up. Most people feel lighter, looser, and a touch hungry afterwards. Drink water. Move gently. Notice how your body feels for the next 24 hours.

A few things people ask

Good to know.

Standard lymphatic drainage (often called Vodder or MLD) is the gentle, light-touch technique developed for medical lymph drainage. Brazilian lymphatic drainage uses firmer pressure and longer sweeping strokes — it's the technique most associated with post-cosmetic recovery and body sculpting. Both work with the lymphatic system; they just feel quite different on the body. We offer both at White Stone Wellness, and your therapist can help you choose.

Slower and gentler than a regular massage. Standard lymphatic work uses very light, rhythmic pressure — most people find it deeply relaxing. Brazilian-style is firmer and more sweeping, but still nothing like a deep tissue session. You shouldn't feel pain or pressure that catches your breath; if you do, your therapist will adjust.

It depends on what brought you in. For one-off bloat or heaviness, a single session can do plenty. For post-surgical recovery, a series of sessions over a few weeks is more common. For ongoing support during pregnancy or chronic conditions, weekly or fortnightly works well. Your therapist will give you a sense of pacing after your first visit.

Yes — from 12 weeks onward, lymphatic drainage is one of the safest and most welcome forms of bodywork during pregnancy. It can help with swelling, fluid retention, and that heavy-legged feeling. Our pregnancy-trained therapists adjust positioning and technique for each trimester.

No, you don't need a referral to book lymphatic drainage with us. That said, if you've had recent surgery — particularly cosmetic, lymph node, or breast surgery — we ask that you've been cleared by your treating practitioner before your session, and that you let us know what you've had done so we can work safely.

You'll undress to your comfort level and remain draped throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered. Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing for afterwards — your body often feels lighter and more sensitive immediately after a session. Drink water before and after; it helps.
